Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct

Welcome to our Future Council Code of Conduct! The Future Council platform is a safe and inclusive place to chat, share, and help each other. Be kind, keep it safe, and have fun. It's important we respect each other and the platform we have.

Be Kind 💬

  • Talk to others the way you’d like to be spoken to.
  • No bullying, name-calling, or being mean.
  • Everyone’s voice matters – agree or disagree nicely.

Stay Safe 🔒

  • Don’t share your last name, home address, school, phone, or socials. If you want to make contact with another member offline, please notify the moderator and we will contact the member’s parents on your behalf.
  • Never share someone else’s private info.
  • If something makes you feel unsafe or worried, tell your parents or the Future Council platform moderator straight away.

Think Before You Post 📝

  • Use friendly words — no rude, swearing, or hurtful language.
  • No violent, scary, or adult-only stuff.
  • Don’t spam or post ads/links.

Our Safety Laws 🇦🇺

  • No cyberbullying or threats.
  • Harmful or unsafe posts will be taken down.

Moderators 👩‍🏫👨‍🏫

  • A specific adult Future Council moderator will regularly monitor posts to keep the conversation wall safe.
  • Moderators can remove or edit posts that break rules.
  • Keep breaking the rules? You might lose posting rights.

Be a Good Council Member 🤝

  • Cheer people on, be supportive, and make others feel welcome.
  • If you’re not sure whether to post something, ask yourself: 👉 “Would I say this face-to-face?”
  • Once you post, it stays — be proud of your words.

Parent & Guardian Code of Conduct

Our platform is designed to give children a safe, positive place to connect. Parents and carers play an important role in keeping it that way. We have adhered to Australian online safety regulations.

✅ What We Ask of Parents & Guardians

  • Be involved: Talk to your child about their online experiences and check in regularly.
  • Permission matters: If your child wants to connect with another child outside the platform (by phone, email, or other services), we will only allow this if both sets of parents/guardians give permission.
  • Support safe use: Encourage your child to follow the rules — be kind, respect others, and never share private contact details inside the app.
  • Help with reporting: If your child sees something that worries them, support them to use the report function or report directly on their behalf.
  • Model good digital citizenship: Reinforce that the app is for safe, respectful communication only.

Our Commitment to You

  • All chats are monitored for safety using both technology and human review where necessary.
  • This is a closed, invitation only platform. Young members need parental consent, which we approve, before being granted access to set up a profile and contribute to the conversation.
  • We will have a Future Council adult moderator checking the platform multiple times a day. This person will be proficient in de-escalation protocols and managing difficult conversations. They will also receive alerts immediately if anything is flagged by our language and content monitoring system.
  • We will never allow unmoderated private connections without your knowledge and consent.
  • We take your child’s privacy and safety seriously, in line with Australian online safety regulations.

Together, we can make sure this platform remains a safe, fun, and positive place for children to connect and grow the Future Council.

Please get in contact if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions.
